Responsible in assisting the Pharmacist with the day-to-day operational needs with the dispensing of prescription medication as required in meeting the needs and requirements of a long term care pharmacy, adheres to the company’s quality and customer service standards, policies and procedures, state and federal guidelines.


  1. Responsible for the filling of prescription orders.
  2. Responsible for filling bulk products, blister packs, putting away the order and staging deliveries.
  3. Perform expiration dating review of all medications on a scheduled basis or at each re stocking period and provide the pharmacist with a list of expired medications.
  4. Maintain all related compounding records, prescription logs, and any other related files as determined by the Pharmacy Technician Manager
  5. Remove and sort by work function the delivery bags or totes and equipment from return area inside pharmacy. Ensure proper dispensation of unreturned medication items for proper outlet.
  6. Perform technician assignments as requested by the pharmacy management.
  7. Maintain all pharmacy related equipment and equipment rental log.
  8. Performs prepackaging of medication.
  9. Performs functions necessary to prepare medications for delivery in area referred to as staging.
  10. Responsible for checking for overages, shortages, damaged materials and reporting discrepancies to the Pharmacy Technician Manager and/or Team Lead.
  11. Replaces emergency boxes as requested. Replaces medications in interim and emergency boxes. Checks all interim and emergency box medications for expiration date before sealing the box. Forwards all interim or emergency box requisitions for date entry.
  12. Works in collaboration with the Pharmacy Technician Manager and Team Leads to meet department goals and objectives.
  13. Actively contributes to the evaluation and continuous improvement of client services, policies and procedures.
  14. Assists with ensuring safety policy and procedures are practiced and adhered.
  15. Enforces all company and departmental policies and procedures.
  16. Complies with all applicable state and federal regulations related to pharmacy practices.
  1. Participates in special projects to identify and implement operational improvements.
  2. Ability to work with others in a positive productive manner anticipates and responds to the positions areas of responsibilities.
  3. Ability to work with a minimum of one (1) dispensing system
  4. Other duties as assigned or directed.


High School graduate or equivalent required. Current National/State Pharmacy Certification required, basic computer knowledge skills required, must have basic understanding of medical terminology, math and analytical skills.

Minimum of one (1) year working as a pharmacy technician in a Long Term Care pharmacy, hospital, retail or other health care pharmacy preferred.

Must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and written with English as the primary language.

Must be dependable with ability to be flexible, function independently and works under pressure with multiple tasks and deadlines. Must have strong organizational, customer service, and time management skills, ability to problem solve.
